Welcome to Miriam's corner

"We the willing, led by the unknowing,
are doing the impossible for the ungrateful.
We have done so much for so long, with so little,
we are now qualified to do anything with nothing."

Two come immediately to mind:
Although Miriam is very talented, singing is not her forte'. When she was 12-year old, she sang mandatorily in a all-girls Catholic
school chorus. The nuns, who were in charge, wanted to show 100% participation. The girls who had "no voice", were asked to lipsync,
without producing any sound. All the practice sessions went toward nuns liking. Than the recital came... Miriam set up a plot, that
all the girls would sing at that recital, including those less talented. The girls who could sing played along. The recital
ended to be a total fiasco, because of that. The nuns, did not understand what happened, 'cause they knew that those with bad voices,
were only lipsynching. They blamed it on the stage fraight.
Miriam was at that time 5-year old, her sister was 4. They were forbidden to open the door for a stranger. It has been a big day
for the family -- they bought a new TV, which was already delivered. The TV got unpacked from the carton box, and their father
played hide-and-seek with children, hiding himself in the carton, which stayed in the hall. In Malta there are two types of doors,
one wooden, one glass, and during daytime only glass doors are closed, so you could see the inside from the street. While girls father
was hidden in the box, the technician came to set the TV up. The girls obeyed and did not open the door for a stranger. Miriam's
father (all red) had to get out of the box to open the door. Wonder what the technician thought about him.
